Grand Rapids is home to two professional teams, the Grand Rapids Griffins, an AHL primary affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Detroit Red Wings, and West Michigan Whitecaps, Class A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers that offer family-friendly entertainment keeping our sports fans on the edge of the seats all year long. On game days you can find our local high school and college venues packed to capacity. Grand Valley State University Lakers, four-time national champions NCAA II football, and Calvin College Knights, two-time national basketball champions in NCAA III are just a couple to highlights.

While in West Michigan you are always located within 6 miles from a lake, river or stream where you can fish for trout, salmon or steelhead.
