GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) - It's a busy weekend for sports in West Michigan, with three major events on the calendar. This is good news for the local economy -- but not for someone trying to find a hotel room.

There are more than 7,200 hotel rooms around Kent County, and most of them are booked this weekend.

Nationally, sports tourism is worth more than $8 billion annually. West Michigan's slice of that pie is about $30 million.

Another national championship is on its way to Grand Rapids.

USA Cycling has named Grand Rapids the site for the 2017 and 2018 Fat Bike National Championship as part of a two-year contract.

"Fat bikes are emerging as one of the fastest-growing segments in the cycling community, and they're becoming increasingly popular among our members," said Micah Rice, VP of national events, USA Cycling.

It was virtually perfect baseball weather over the weekend for the United States Spectator Sports Association Global World Series at the ArtVan Sports Complex.

The Michigan Bulls from Novi and the Rhinos from Northern Chicago battled for the Division B 13U Title with the Bulldogs taking a 5-4 victory.  The game ended in the top of the 7th on a double play.
