FREE MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY MEN’S BASEBALL SCRIMMAGE

 

New Complex also Hosts VETSports Charity Softball Event Sept. 24 Featuring GRPD and GRFD

 

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Sept. 9, 2014 – In just a month since opening, the Art Van Sports Complex has already ushered 250 traveling team players and 1,000 spectators through its gates. Now the general public will be treated to two events as part of its public opening – a free intersquad scrimmage by the Michigan State University Men’s Baseball Team Sept. 13, and the Grand Rapids 2nd Annual Charity Softball Event Sept. 24.

 

“Our donors and travelling teams have started experiencing the championship-caliber Art Van Sports Complex, and now we welcome the community to come out and see what we’re all about,” said Mike Guswiler, president of the West Michigan Sports Commission. “People have patiently watched the complex being built, and we invite them to check out the finished product with one of these fun, family-friendly events.”

 

Public Opening - Michigan State University Spartans Men’s Baseball Team

 

What:               MSU Spartans Men’s Baseball Team Intersquad Game

 

Where:             Art Van Sports Complex, 3300 10 Mile Rd. NE, Rockford, MI; 49341

 

When:             Saturday, Sept. 13

  • 12 – 12:30 p.m. – Team will visit with West Michigan Miracle League, Nate Hurwitz Field

  • 1:30 p.m. – Scrimmage Game, Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation Championship Field

                           

    Cost:                Free

 

Parking:           Public lots south of Championship Field

 

 

Grand Rapids 2nd Annual Charity Softball Event

 

What:               Grand Rapids 2nd Annual Charity Softball Event – The VETSports (national non-profit helping veterans improve their health) Wounded Warrior Team will scrimmage the West MI Miracle League and the Grand Rapids Police and Fire Departments

 

Where:             Art Van Sports Complex, 3300 10 Mile Rd. NE, Rockford, MI; 49341

 

When:              Wednesday, Sept. 24

  • 4:30 p.m. – Scrimmage against the West Michigan Miracle League, Nate Hurwitz Field

  • 6 p.m. – Scrimmage against the GRPD and GRFD, Championship Field

                           

    Cost:                $5 for adults; free for kids, active-duty military and veterans. VETSports will donate a portion of every dollar raised to the DeVos Children's Hospital Oncology Department.
