2014 It’s Glow Time 5k - Grand Rapids

Downtown Grand Rapids will feature a return of the glowing 5k race

Grand Rapids, Mich, July 24, 2014 – It’s Glow Time 5k is returning to Downtown Grand Rapids. This fun and lively 5k event is open to adults and children of all ages and fitness levels. Registration is now open for the night of Saturday, August 23 at 8:45 pm. Athletes are able to register individually for a price of $35.

Have you ever been in a night club and wished you could run a 5k? Here’s your chance! This event is designed around a party atmosphere and a good time for all! The event will begin in a “party zone” with black lights and loud music before the athletes take the course. Along the route, runners will partake in multiple “party zones” where they are encouraged to dance and show off their glow throughout the street. “The It’s Glow Time Team can’t wait to get our Glow On in Grand Rapids,” said Race Director Ryan Griessmeyer, “When it comes to night running, we Glow all out!”

When the athletes complete the course, they are welcomed back to the post-race party at Calder Plaza with more black lights and lasers! The party will offer a complimentary beverage for each runner including beer from Bell's Brewery, the official beer sponsor of It's Glow Time 5K- Grand Rapids. Thanks to a partnership with the Grand Rapids Rowing Association, those athletes that are 21 and older on race day will be able to consume alcoholic beverages on site.

It's Glow Time 5K is also bringing back one of America’s hottest college & nightclub touring video DJ in the country! DJ Superstar Sanouk! He will use a variety of music from the 90’s and newer hits to make this glowing experience one to remember!

It’s Glow Time 5k has partnered with the West Michigan Sports Commission to make this event become a reality. Through this partnership and the partnership with the Grand Rapids Rowing Association, the event is poised to be a great success.

“As a strong running community, Grand Rapids is fortunate to host some unique and engaging 5k runs,” Said Mike Guswiler, West Michigan Sports Commission President. “It's Glow Time 5k is a fun event, bringing both local running enthusiasts and visitors to our great community."
