Meijer State Games of Michigan 2016 Winter Games Main Weekend Details

Grand Rapids, Mich., February 17, 2016 – The main weekend of the Meijer State Games of Michigan 2016 Winter Games will be held this weekend, February 19-21. There will be 15 sports in action across West Michigan, with most being held in Grand Rapids.

Sports taking place this weekend include Alpine Skiing, Archery, Basketball, BMX, Bowling, Darts, Disc Golf, Fencing (Traditional and Wheelchair), Karate, Luge, Quad Rugby, Shooting Sports, Snowball Softball, Volleyball, and Wrestling.

Three new sports will be making their Meijer State Games of Michigan Winter Games debut this weekend with Karate, Luge, and Volleyball. Also new to the Winter Games this year is the Wheelchair Fencing division.


Cross Country Skiing, UltraFit, and Fatbike competitions were held over previous weekends. The 2016 Winter Games will wrap-up next weekend with the Racquetball competition taking place February 27-28.

In August 2017, the Meijer State Games of Michigan will play host to the 2017 State Games of America. The 2017 games will host 50+ sports and is open to all residents of Michigan and the State Games medal winners (gold, silver, bronze) from across the nation.
