Harold Voorhees Sr. Internship Program
In honor of his remarkable legacy, Harold’s family established the Harold Voorhees Sr. Internship Program in partnership with the West Michigan Sports Commission (WMSC). This program aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders by providing young individuals with invaluable hands-on experience and mentorship in leadership and community engagement. Through this initiative, Harold Voorhees' dedication to excellence and service will continue to influence and uplift the community for years to come.

The West Michigan Sports Commission is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering economic development by attracting sporting events to improve our citizens' quality of life and elevate the brand of Grand Rapids.
The West Michigan Sports Commission offers paid internships. Internships provide a great insight into event planning and execution. Selected interns have the opportunity to earn college credit and gain valuable experience toward their future careers.

Harold Voorhees Sr.
Harold Voorhees Sr. continues to leave an enduring mark through his exceptional leadership in business, public service, faith, and family. Harold Sr. and his wife Joanne raised three children: Harold Jr., Nancy, and Karla. Their partnership and the values instilled within their family carried forward into aspects of their lives and community.
Harold Sr. was a founding board member of the WMSC and played a crucial role in shaping the region's sports landscape. His efforts in Lansing were instrumental in garnering support for various initiatives, ensuring that West Michigan received the necessary resources and recognition. Harold’s unique approach to meeting people and building relationships was demonstrated through his actions. Famously known as the "Cookie Man," he’s made a lasting impression with his thoughtful gestures.

Duties include assisting the events department with planning sporting events they work with. The intern could help with projects such as communicating with tournament directors, managing websites, updating calendars, grassroots marketing, hospitality coordinating, equipment research, etc. The tasks vary based on the needs of the clients and the events we are hosting.
